Ideas, Scribbles. 9:52.pm

Outtake from my thesis piece. Whenever I saw this pic I always liked something about it, so today I spruced it up in photoshop to see what could happen. I think this could be a sweet painting! I think I even have the board for it =)

Oooh, once upon a time I wanted to be a makeup/sfx artist. The face paint in this photo cost a pretty penny and I decided I was too poor to further pursue this art, the end.

Everyone turn your head the same way…

February.16.2010

exploring more pen mark making messes. I think this would pop more not on white. I need a sketchbook that can stand up to water washes again!

My current photoshop work in progress. Someone wanna finish it for me??…

Leyendecker. Shouldn’t be studied in pencil.

Dirty photoshop over what was a graceful sketch. Might take priority in the wip line-up.

(and I have a thing for drawing heads facing one direction, something with the curves being subconsciously easier to draw?)

Tiny little book!

January.6.2010

Ideas, Scribbles. 11:45.pm

I had to actually buy one cause I don’t have space to make my own. It’s ok…cute. Sub-par paper. But when it feels like every pen is dying on me and my list of materials shrinks…doesn’t matter much.

I really wanted to try something super light, can you tell? I wanna play with this one more too…

This is the point where I decided to force myself to draw something every day. I’ve missed one day so far, but I was doing digital things. That counts right?

Ooooh why did I draw something detailed in pencil in tiny sub-par sketchbook?  And I seem to have a thing for the aged vignette. Not sure about it yet…

Doodles from my vast internet reference file, haha.

Relief Prints

July.9.2009

Finish, Illustration. 12:26.am

All of these were done during my printmaking class, in editions of five (with extras made in some cases.) Most of these are available for sale.

intaglio print from copperplate etching, 8″x10″. I also did a few with spot watercolor, and one with silver-foil in the triangles. When I get around to it, I’ll update with an example.

Linoblock print on handmade paper, 14″x14″.

Collograph print, 10″x14″ (this edition was done in various colors and without color, this is just the only one I have scanned.)

Watercolor monoprint, 5″x7″. I did 4 other masks in a similar style, this turned out to be my favorite.

Oil monoprint, 9″x7″. This was also printed with different color combos, different duck placements, etc. I think the cloud and water made this one stand out.

Finish, Illustration. 3:25.pm

After more than one photo shooting attempting, many de-cat hair dustings, and using nearly every light stand I have…the final is here!

It is all paper and a lot of careful gluing, with acrylic on the board and mica pigments (“glitter”) on the black wall. Some gouache was used on the guys skin because I don’t have the right paper color, so I made my own. The floor has curled paper swirls holding up frosted mylar that I coated with matte medium to take the transparency down. Evidently, glue works even better because you can tell where the papers meet.

The only process shots I have. I kept with the pink swirl, but as the piece developed the yellow wasn’t working. Her vest also met a green marker for the same reason. Luckily, all this made for minimal digital work.
